EULA
End user license agreement
This is the license under which you can use White Island on your computer. It’s short and written to be understood: by installing or playing the game, you accept it. Buying and the website are covered in the terms and conditions.
What it gives you
Buying a spot gives you permission to install the game on your computers and play it, for your personal use. It doesn’t give you ownership of the game, or permission to sell, rent or distribute it.
The game —its code, its JRS engine, its images, its sounds, its videos, its name and its logo— belongs to its author.
Your key and your computers
The game is activated the first time you open it, with the key in your profile, in the “El juego” tab. Activating it needs an internet connection; after that you can play offline. When there’s internet, the game checks at most once a day that its spot is still active: if the purchase was refunded or you released that computer from your profile, the next time you open it, it will ask for the key again.
A key works on three computers at a time. If you change computers, release the old one from your profile and activate the new one. Reinstalling the game on the same computer doesn’t use up another one.
The key is personal. If it’s shared or used to distribute the game, it can be deactivated.
What you can’t do with the game
- Copy, modify or decompile it, or reuse its parts, without written permission, except as far as the law allows.
- Sell, rent or distribute it, or its installer.
- Share or resell your activation key.
Recording yourself playing
Yes, you can record yourself playing and show it wherever you like: in videos, on livestreams or on social media.
New versions
While it’s being made, the game gets new versions. If you have automatic updates turned on, it downloads them while you play and installs them when you close it; your saved games aren’t touched. A new version may change or remove things from earlier ones: it’s part of playing a game that’s still being made.
What the game sends
The game talks to the website to activate and to check that your spot is still active. If you have it turned on, it also sends how much is played and where you get stuck, without your name or your email address; it’s turned off in the game itself, under Opciones › Datos. All the details are in the privacy policy.
What belongs to others
Some of what you see and hear in the game belongs to other authors and is used under their licenses. The full list comes with the game, in its licenses folder.
When it ends
The license lasts as long as you have your spot. If the purchase is refunded, or if the key is shared or used to distribute the game, it’s deactivated and stops being valid.
If something fails
The game is looked after, but it’s in development and can fail. You have the guarantees the law gives for digital content, and nothing in this license takes them away. Spanish law applies, as in the terms and conditions.
